What is the ideology behind the idea of the world without borders?

Two processes define present world without borders: accumulation by dispossession and imperialism of circulation. The process of the disappearance of borders is connected to the processes of the accumulation of capital. The borders are gone, and the price to be paid is the total dispossession of all our ideas, stances, and specificities. Based on Marina Gržinić, „Political Act in Contemporary Art: drawing Borders”, Reartikulacija, Issue 5, Ljubljana, 2009

World “without borders” means:

accumulation by dispossession

imperialism of circulation

inclusion through exclusion

hegemonization by Christianity

neo-colonization

necrocapitalism

instrumentalisation of life

creation of deathscapes

production of the Other through dehumanization

intensification of de-regulation and privatization

domination of patriarchate

The world today presents itself in an endless circulation that is seen as “friendly” and endless exchange, and therefore in order to solve expropriation, enslavement, and neocolonial interventions by capital, only one measure is proposed, and this is called coordination. Marina Gržinić, „Political Act in Contemporary Art: drawing Borders”, Reartikulacija, Issue 5, Ljubljana, 2009

The coloniality of power, the extraterritoriality of colonies and their extra-constitutional legal status as such should not be constructed into fate. Europe is being constructed with its (post)colonial and post-Cold War heritage unreflected. Thus, Asia [and Africa] is part of Europe – and vice versa, but the relationship is presented as forever asymmetrical in Europe’s favour. Rada Iveković, “Translating Borders; Limits of nationalism, transnationalism, translationalism”

After 1989 national borders, national sovereignty and national state are recomposed and reorganized at all levels with new functionalities. Borders are subject to constant reinterpretation, reincarnation and redrawing. The rich diversity of complex societies is evened out into a flat surface, whereby borders are introduced deep into the social canvas (“us” & “them”) etc. Anticipating identities by nominating them downloads them into material existence. Creating some borders often enables others to be removed, but the principle of borders remains. Rada Iveković, “Translating Borders; Limits of nationalism, transnationalism, translationalism”, 2008

For opening up certain macropolitical barriers one pays the price of transforming life into an exchange instrument and, when needed, of exercising power in the name of the civilized existence, of “rescuing from themselves” the groups found in state of exception. Rozalinda Borcila and Cristian Nae. “Past Futures: Extreme Subjectification. The Engineering of the Future and the Instrumentalization of Lifehttp://www.borcila.com

By representing the “new colonies” as sources of profit, corporatist thinking defines a form of necropolitics, interested in “maintaining the state of permanent war” due to the profitability of the contracts for reconstruction, the use of private militias or the extraction of natural resources. Achille Mbembe, Necropolitics, Public Culture 15(1): 11–40, Duke University Press, 2003

No one is illegal

The territory of Western Balkans is an instrumental destination for the countries which should reorganized completely to become a replica of the European example. Reality of the region is growing up from the supreme sovereignty and knowledge of the EU. The final consequences of this relation is the positioning of the EU as an example that possesses the criteria of a political reality as well as the criteria for the verification of such a reality; criteria according to which the EU distributes, monitors, and therefore determines which of countries cannot enter the system of arrangement, and in one word decides the definition of those states; which will remain “the rest,” the unclassified and unfit. Tihomir Topuzovski, „From the imagining of the Balkans to the invention of the Western Balkans”, Reartikulacija, Issue 6, Ljubljana, 2009

The invention of the Western Balkans brings back the possibility for distinction between the centre and the periphery, different market conditions, and something which could be named as transitional circumstances within the Western Balkans. Tihomir Topuzovski, „From the imagining of the Balkans to the invention of the Western Balkans”, Reartikulacija, Issue 6, Ljubljana, 2009

Deconstruction of national markets, the dissolution of the national monetary regimes and the subordination of national markets to the needs of financial powers are an actuality today in the region of the Western Balkans. Tihomir Topuzovski, „From the imagining of the Balkans to the invention of the Western Balkans”, Reartikulacija, Issue 6, Ljubljana, 2009

The key witness is absent, because he is dead. The key witness of Europe’s immigration policy is the one who has not reached the camp. At this moment he is floating from one border of the Schengen region to the other. He, and hundreds of thousands like him, are the true and biggest obstacles for European democracy. Contesting anti-romaism in Europe

Like anti-Semitism, neo-racism is an ideological practice, in which its specific object is constituted and constructed. This presumption implies a crucial challenge: something that does not exist, such as race, is coming into being through different forms of praxis by individuals, groups, institutions, or states and therefore a reality, a social relation and a policy. The fiction of race is produced by a vast number of narrations: gestures, rituals, images, texts. Ethnicity and race is a rumour, once it is the rumour about the Jews, the other time the rumour about [Roma], the migrant or the refugee. Kratka istorija diskriminacije Roma

The European democratic values promoted by the European Union (or the values of European civil societies) are not universal human values – those are actually values that exist only in relation to economic processes where the concept of freedom is directly and solely connected with the unobstructed flow of capital, which must always and anew be ensured by using various technologies of power. Queerßtrategy doesn’t separate means from goals. It’s not enough to execute new procedures through old protocols, as gays and lesbians do (e.g. asking for equal status of their marriages). Queerßtrategy is, on the contrary, for the changing of these same protocols – protocols of hetero-normativity and all the institutions on which it relies that are meant as “dispositifs disciplinaires” (disciplinary devices) through which subjects act and are produced as straight. The transformation process in Eastern Europe can be considered as part of the failure of a process of industrialization oriented to emancipation in these regions. Despite all the differences, industrialization was an attempt on the part of these regions to escape from the position and function of the periphery that was attributed to them for centuries. This attempt failed in light of geopolitical conditions, and the region is now being returned to where it has always been in the logic of the West, namely to a semi-colonial relationship to the Western powers. This certainly does not apply only to Europe – let’s not forget that the member candidates first joined NATO and only later became part of the European Union. Next to private property, privatization is the second key word in the process of upheaval in the East and was used almost synonymously with “democratization”. When, in addition to democracy, human rights, the protection of minorities or civil society were also introduced, these buzz words served and still serve to demand and promote privatization in the form of increasing private property. Neoliberalism came from the outside and nationalism from the inside for the purpose of a neoliberal restoration of capitalism.
